Solesca's GIS Layers

Solesca has numerous GIS layers available by clicking the "Map" tab in the toolbar. You can select and deselect different GIS layers, and even draw obstructions on top while viewing them. The "map pin," which is the pink pin that starts at the center of your screen, determines the distance from which substations and transmission lines are measured. You can reset the pin to the center of your screen by clicking the pink "Reset pin" button.

Substations & Transmission Lines

We have substation and transmission line coverage for the United States. You can adjust the extents of the infrastructure you view by dragging the "Proximity" slider, and you can also filter by minimum and maximum voltage ranges by dragging the "Voltage" slider. Slope

Slope is custom-derived from USGS Digital Elevation Models, and can help you get a sense of buildable area and necessary cut/fill. As indicated in the color key, red indicates steeper slope, while yellow is moderate and green is negligible. You can filter the visible range of slope by dragging the endpoints of the slider. US-only.

Forest canopy height

The height of forest canopies is globally available. Recent 2020 coverage is available, as is data from 2000 and the delta between the two.

Wetlands

Wetland data is available for the United States, and becomes higher resolution as you zoom in. Please refer to the key for color codes. Source is the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
