Grid Connection
Grid connection allows you to select equipment specific to the site or POI. There are three archetypes corresponding to each different interconnection type.
BTM Grid Connection
BTM Grid connections assume that you have an existing building equipment to connect to. Either you can have an existing Switchgear or existing Transformer.
You will need to enter the accurate size of the equipment, which can only be determined from the equipment data for your specific project and site.
We will check if your system can interconnect to the onsite equipment. If we determine that your existing equipment is too small for your current project size, you will be unable to enter engineering mode under this specific interconnection as it would not comply with NEC.
Since you are behind the meter, we assume you have an existing meter and provide the ability to enter the meter number.
Lastly, you can add a SCADA to this system to comply with local utility regulations.
Switchgear
When connecting to a switchgear you have three options:
Breaker: New breaker connection on the existing SwitchgearLine-side tap: New line-side tap on the existing SwitchgearLoad-side tap: New load-side tap on the existing Switchgear
You can also add existing breakers that you found on your site visit to be listed on the SLD.
Transformer
When connecting to an existing transformer, you must specify the transformer specs. These include the Type, high-side rating, size (kVA), power factor, and impedance.
FTM-Urban Grid Connection
This interconnection configuration is meant for buildings, canopies, and ground mounts that are Community Solar projects that do not require poles. As such, we assume that these systems contain only a single transformer and are sized to be completely under that transformer. You can either connect to an existing site transformer or with a new transformer.
You have to enter your transformer specs accordingly.
Like BTM, you can add a SCADA to comply with utility regulations.
Ground Mount Connection
For ground mounts, we assume all transformers are new. You must enter the type, high-side rating, max size, power factor, and impedance.
The max size functions exactly like AC Boards — you enter the max size and we will use that as the target, but if a smaller size would fit the system we will downsize accordingly to avoid oversized gear.
You have the option of adding a Grounding Transformer if the system requires one.
You also can set the Pole Order by adding poles. We have 6 different types of poles that you can add in order. Please see Poles for more information
on how poles work in engineering mode.
Lastly, you have the option of entering an existing utility pole number to help the utility locate the system.
